The welding piston 1 has a tip 8 for thermal softening of the foils 3 and 4 and isplaced immediately upstream of the nip between the rollers 2, so that narrow gaps 10 are formedbetween the tip 8 and adjacent mantle surfaces on the rollers 2. In order for the gaps 10 inthe optimal position of the tip 8 relative to the pressure rollers 2 should be even is the contour of the tipadapted to the radius of curvature of the rollers 2. The tip 8 of the welding piston 1 comprises a core 11, which is made of a materialwith excellent thermal conductivity, preferably silver or an alloy thereof. As can be seen from fi g 2, the core 11 has an extension 13, which extends out of itthe capsule 12 in the direction away from the pressure rollers 2. In this extension 13 the core 11 has acentral recess 14, a recess 15 on the upper side of the extension 13 and a recess 16 on itsunderside, which recesses each occupy their electric heating element 17, 18 and 19 respectivelypurpose suitable design, wherein the heating elements are directly heat transferconnected to the core 11 via its extension 13, i.e. abuts directly against itextension. The heating elements 17, 18 and 19 are via a terminal block 20 and electricconductor 21 electrically connected to a connector (not shown) on the welding machine, which connector inin turn is connected to an external electrical power source.101520253035In the embodiment shown, the tip 8 of the welding piston 1 is via the core 11extension 13 heat insulating mounted in an enclosing holder 22, on which holderthe bracket 6 for the connection of the welding piston 1 to the welding machine is mounted. Thisthermal insulation has the task of preventing it from the electric heating elements 17, 18 and19 generated the shield in the core 11 from being transferred to the holder 22 and thence tothe surroundings. The thermal insulation is then suitably formed of thin, heat-insulatingfl ak 23, which are arranged between the extension 13 and the holder 22. After heating the welding piston 1 to the rightoperating temperature and actuation of the pressure rollers 2 in the directions of rotation shownthe two plastic foils 3 and 4 are fed past the welding piston 1 on either side thereof, such asshown in the drawing, and further through the gaps 10 between the tip 8 and the welding piston 1the mantle surfaces of the pressure rollers 2 up to and out of the nip 9 between these rollers. When the foils3 and 4 during abutment against the tip 8 are inserted into the slots 10, the foils are heated so thatthey become plastic. When the plastic foils 3 and 4 enter the nip 9 between the rollers 2the foils are pressed against each other so tightly that they are welded together to form the joint 5. Tothe joint 5 should not go up again immediately after the passage of the nips 9 of the rollers 2 is presentimmediately downstream of the rollers an air nozzle (not shown), which blows cooling air towardscormorant 5. Figures 3 and 4 show a welding piston tip modified in accordance with the inventionfor use in an otherwise unchanged welding machine as above. Forrelevant parts, the same reference numerals are used as above with the addition ofthe letter a. The tip 8A of the welding piston 1A thus has concavely curved contours at its endadapted to the shape of the rollers 2 of the welding machine (Fig. 2). 1 connection to these curvedcontours, the known machine had flat, horizontal surfaces on it out of its holder 22sliding portion of the tip 8A. Claims (1) [1] CLAIM APPLICATION Device for a welding machine for continuous welding of thermoplastic plastic foils (3,4) for the formation of joints, seams, edges and the like (5), which machine has an electrically heated welding piston (1A) with a tip (8A) for melting of the surface layer of the foils, partly pressure rollers (2) placed immediately downstream of the tip for welding the foils, the tip (8A) comprising partly a heat-conducting core (11), to which electric heating elements (17A, 18A, 19A) are directly heat transfer connected, partly a core-enclosing, durable capsule (12A), with which the foils (3,4) are brought into contact for softening, and wherein the tip (SA) has concavely curved contours at its end for adaptation to the shape of the pressure rollers (2), characterized in that the free surfaces (23A) of the tip (SA) in connection with the concavely curved contours are inclined relative to the horizontal plane and that the electric heating elements (17A, 18A, 19A) are cylindrical.
